When i was working for Otis Elevator World Headquarters Engineering North American Operations as the lead lab tech incharge of the fabrication and test lab(R&D). I went thru quite a few different brands of handgrinders. We would put each one thru the ringer just doing normal everyday fabrication with structural steel. I never had a problem with the hitachi grinder. So after owning a smaller hitachi grinder i wanted a larger more powerful hand grinder but i didn't want the weight of a 7" or 9" grinder. I figured the higher amperage in the G12SE2 would be awesome when grinding oxy/acc torch cuts. Plus blending in or joint preparing steel before welding. This grinder is awesome. Remember the bigger grinders do get heavy at the end of the day too. I use the more powerful grinders for the heavy cuts and the smaller grinders for the light cuts. Don't over work the smaller amp grinders get the larger more powerful hand grinder and let it eat steel. BigBill BTW; I'm retrired now and i still buy the hitachi grinders for home.
