I have used the saw several time and have found it easy to use and powerful and rugid enough to do what I need. I have been hesitatn about purchasing reconditioned products but so far this one has proven to be all that I wanted and would expect in a new saw.

Very good saw with nice and easy blade release. I have never liked the case Hitachi supplies it bends the cord too tightly and has no place for the blades to be confined to, so I basically throw it away and use my old metal TIGER saw case that has a compartment for blades and is easier on the cord.

I found that the tool was not 100% blade dose not stay in saw. not sure how I feel about reconditions tools.

The saw itself has good power but I don't think that the UVP system really makes any difference. The blade release system is small and sometimes difficult to use. Compared to the Dewalt and Bosch recip saws I've worn through in the past I think it is a superior saw.
