Incredible value on this workhorse miter saw. This thing saves me so much time. While there were some obvious cosmetic blemishes, it was reconditioned just fine and worked like new and was aligned out of the box. No accessories missing. Some even came preassembled! I've made dozens of perfect cuts on trim molding, 2x4's, 4x4's, and decking planks.
I considered a model with 12" and/or laser but for my needs, this is more than enough. In my limited woodworking education, I've learned the lasers can go bad or get knocked out of alignment easily, and it's generally more accurate to sight the blade against the wood anyhow.
Great buy. Glad I waited for a good sale. Made it even better!

I've been a contractor for 20 years. I know a good tool when I use it. I've owned this model before and loved it. (Previous one was stolen.) You can't buy a better saw for the money. I've used several Hitachi saw models and been impressed by all of them.
For those of you in doubt about reconditioned tools, do you realize that they get more attention in their reassembly and Q/A inspection than the new ones coming off the assembly line, one per minute?
This is not the first reconditioned item I've purchased. Try it. Better products at better prices.

A couple of things that need to be mentioned:
1. Regarding the saw: As described. Like new. Clean, new blade - only a slight adjustment needed to true up to 90 degree cuts.
Fully satisfied.
2. Customer service was one of the best experiences that I have had.
I had questions on ship dates since this was needed to make schedule at a new job site. I spoke with Whitney twice regarding this. So far I have been mostly cross-cutting with this saw and it performs very well. The included saw blade is decent enough for a fairly smooth finish to the cut. The saw dust bag collected the majority of fines and was easy to empty. Pretty quiet sounding motor.
I have not tried a miter cut but I cannot see why it would not perform well. By the way, this thing looks brand new out of the box.........

Reconditioned? I thought it was brand new when I opened the box. That's how well these units are inspected and kept before shipping. BigSkyTool has amazed me with their quality of tools called "recon". Some companies online truly do have "recon" stuff that shows up beat or badly used. This saw came with a brand new blade, and all the original hardware just like if you bought it new. On mine the only indicator that it was reconditioned was one tiny scratch on the arm of the saw. I buy these periodically from BigSky and always opt for the cheapest deal, every time I have received a saw that I really can't tell from a new one...

The saw was damaged when it arrived. The lock pin that holds the saw down was drokrn in half and the mount for the safety gaurd was broken at the casting for the attachment screw. I contacted the company and it took almost 2 weeks for a return lable to appear on my computer. I did not get the user name and password I needed to print the label and by then had used the saw to make 4-5 cuts which made the saw used. I was not told that I could not use it without voiding the warrentee. I feel burned by buying this product. It was dropped hard in transit and the hassle of returning it wasn't worth the savings.

It was definitely more beat-up and used than the description of "grade A" reconditioned would lead you to believe. Big Sky says "Grade A tools look almost new. There may only be slight cosmetic blemishes." Mine definitely had more than "slight cosmetic blemishes."
They gave me a partial refund, so I give them 5 stars on customer service. But if I had to do it over again I would have spent a small amount more to get a new tool with a longer warranty.
