This open box new item appears brand new indeed, box and all. I calibrated it over a 50 foot course and it was dead on. The laser dot is fuzzier than the RoboToolz it replaced, but it is quite readable. The leveling is free floating but settles quickly. I hope the simplicity of the leveling mechanism will give it more dependability than the servo motors that seem to fail so often on the RoboToolz. Usage is by a serious homeowner who takes good care of tools and uses them infrequently. This is one of my favorites for laying out projects.
